803 RENOVATION

Homecoming 2018’s House Corp. meeting saw a presentation by Ken Sproul (Fall 1975) on a proposed remodel of 803 Brown Street.  Ken met prior to the meeting with representatives of the City of Valparaiso to see if this plan to remodel was even possible. The City was positive and encouraged us to pursue this project.  

The Board unanimously passed a resolution to move forward with architectural drawings and to remove several large trees surrounding the house that were up against the foundation or overhanging the roof.

Below is a rendition of the new front entrance and raised roof lines. Square footage and occupancy remain the same but usable space will make the rooms feel larger and spacious.

House Corp has had discussion with the University on their Master Plan to move fraternities and sororities to Union Street but assured us that remaining on Brown Street was our choice.  Based on our current financial position, the current plans will move forward.

There is still a lot of work to do prior to starting construction but we are confident that the completed project will be good for the Chapter and the neighborhood.
