The Birkman Method®
The Birkman Method® is a preferred instrument to better understand interpersonal dynamics and achieve higher performance through positive psychology. It is used widely in the fields of career coaching, leadership development, human resources management, and organizational design today.

Sigma Pi Fraternity, International adopted the Birkman assessment as a key strategic tool for the 2019 Mid-Year Leadership Conference. The Beta-Tau chapter has been fortunate to have alumni support to fund the Birkman Assessment for all chapters members, including those going through the new member education process. After accepting a bid to join Sigma Pi at Valparaiso University, the new member will receive a link to take the assessment. Upon completion each member receives a copy of his personal Birkman Basics Report.
The Birkman Basics Report
The information included in Basics is derived from The Birkman Method behavioral assessment and includes the following:

Birkman Map – A high-level view of your personality type relative to where others might fit (Where am I vs. the others on my team?)

Symbols – A graphic representation of your Interests, Strengths, Needs and Stress

Usual Behavior – An understanding of your productive self and how others might view you

Stress Behavior – The frustrated, unproductive behavior that can play out when your core Needs are frequently unmet

Needs – The social expectations that inform your worldview—when addressed successfully, these provide the social context in which you thrive

Personalized Birkman Coaching
One of our very own Beta-Tau alumni, Brother Matt Smith, is a Certified Birkman Signature Consultant. As the chair. of the the Sigma Pi Curriculum Task Force, brother Smith has led the development of Birkman related training and leadership development programs for chapter officers across Sigma Pi. As a leadership developer and coach, he has worked with numerous chapters beyond Valparaiso.
